About the Exhibition
The Visual Arts Society of Texas (VAST), organized in 1975, is based in Denton, TX, and functions as a non-profit, professional organization dedicated to providing opportunities for the development of artists' skills and expression. This year’s Merging Visions exhibition is the 10th annual collaborative effort between VAST and the Denton Poets’ Assembly, and serves their mission as “Artists and community connecting to create and celebrate visual arts!”
Merging Visions pairs original art and poetry in celebration of National Poetry Month. The members of the two groups create the art and poetry in tandem; some artworks may serve as inspiration for the poems, while others are created in response to a poem. Each artist-poet pair works together annually.
This exhibition is made possible by the UNT Art Galleries, Denton Public Library, Greater Denton Arts Council, and Denton Benefit League.
